A shell and tube condenser is a type of heat exchanger used to cool a hot fluid by transferring heat to a cool fluid, typically air or water. It consists of a cylindrical shell that contains a number of parallel tubes. The hot fluid flows through the tubes, while the cool fluid flows over the outside of the tubes in the shell. Heat is transferred from the hot fluid to the cool fluid through the tube walls, causing the hot fluid to lose heat and cool down. Shell and tube condensers are commonly used for applications such as condensing steam in rendering plant, and refrigeration systems.
