A decanter is a type of centrifuge used to separate solid particles from a liquid mixture. It works by rotating the mixture at high speed in a cylindrical container, so that the solid particles are forced to the bottom and sides, while the liquid is separated in the center. Decanters are widely used in industries such as oil and gas, food and beverage, chemical, and waste management, to separate liquids from solids in a variety of processes, including clarifying liquids, purifying suspensions, and recovering solid materials.
